Whether you intend to work with a General Contractor or you intend to be your own contractor, a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.  Here's some help with that first step.

Always remember that in home renovation, there is no screw-up so big that it can not be corrected or repaired.  You used the wrong kind of concrete?  No problem.  There are experts who can pull it out and haul it away.  You didn't put in tempered glass above the tub?  No problem.  It's easy to find someone to change it out.  So, don't worry about making mistakes... You can always undo them!

"But what about the cost of the mistakes?"  Well, if you are working with a general contractor and you specified what you wanted done (this website can help with that), then the general contractor needs to bear the cost.  And, if you are being your own contractor and you make costly mistakes, you will probably still come out ahead when you consider the money you are saving by not paying a general contractor.  Plus, you will know how to do it right next time.

When I first started, I knew nothing about construction and had been in a hardware store only a handful of times. But it doesn't take long to get in the game.  The trick is simply finding the people who can help and specifying what you want them to do.  With this website, you can learn how to do it!

Through trial and error, I have made enough mistakes along the way for both of us.  If I can do it, I know that you can do it, particularly if you can benefit from my experience.

The fun part is creating a work of art that you can live in!  YOU CAN DO IT, and have fun along the way!
