Whole House Humidifer
-Looking for a whole house humidifer? I've thought about installing a whole house humidifier at my personal residence and may actually go for one, as it's dry and everyone in my family seems to have a problem with the dry air.
-A brand I've heard good things about is Aprilaire. We've got Aprilaire air filters in my hvac unit, and we've been pretty happy with them. While I have yet to research whole house humidifiers, here are a few considerations:
-My understanding is that many whole house humidifiers will operate only when the furnace is running. Thus, you may want to have a stand alone auxiliary humidifier that can run when the furnace isn't. This is because an evaporating humidifier needs air blowing in order to get the benefits circulating throughout the whole house.
-While this is true, I'd try out my whole house humidifier without a supplemental humidifier for a while first to see if I actually need the extra help.
-A great way to check out the humidity levels in your house is to purchase a portable hygrometer that is used to check out the humidity levels for cigar humidors and cigar storage rooms. These calculate the humidity quickly and are relatively inexpensive. Once the whole house humidifier is installed, you could use a hygrometer to check individual room humidity levels.
